Dokku

Dokku is an open-source, self-hosted Platform-as-a-Service that runs on a single Linux server and automates deployment of applications via Git push. It uses Docker containers under the hood, orchestrated with simple CLI tooling and buildpacks.

Key characteristics:

• Git-driven deployments (similar to Heroku)
• Docker containerization managed by Dokku
• Buildpack and Dockerfile support
• Plugin ecosystem for databases, SSL, metrics, cron jobs
• Self-hosted — you operate the underlying VM/server
• No managed infrastructure — infrastructure is your responsibility

Dokku is suitable for teams or projects that want a lightweight PaaS experience on their own infrastructure with minimal operational complexity. It is not a cloud provider service; you must provision and manage your own servers (bare metal or VMs).
